" Song of the Day "

Kid Cudi is without a doubt one of the most talented musicians to date. Kanye West's prodigy has been away for a while, but he is back. Cudi never fails to write music about hardships in his life and that's what makes him so creatively real. He can turn rough lyrics into a catchy song. I'm definitely anticipating his next album release.

In "King Wizard", Cudi claims that he's the king of the rap game, and that he really hasn't gone anywhere. Well good thing, because we need artists like him to keep alternative rap alive!

Hair: A new fashion accesory?

Hair styles make all the difference in fashion.

Recently, people have been coming up with the strangest and most funky hair styles. For some reason, dying your hair a random color of the rainbow is all the rage nowadays. And if the hair is not dyed, then its half shaven, or puffed up in an afro. Either way, young people have turned their hair styles into an accessory of fashion.

All over the world this is happening. It isn't just these New York City hipsters who shave their heads into 80's style flat tops, its also people from Europe too. European style is what makes our style in North America. We take trends from Europeans all the time with out even realizing. But back to the hair. Girls of asian decent do anything to their hair, and it always looks amazing. A short Bob cut with clipped bangs can't go wrong. As long as the hair goes with your style, you can't mess up an outfit. Its like the cherry on top of the cake.

If you don't believe me, go get a new hair cut done to your head and tell me how many compliments you receive a day.

Music has made a Wardrobe change!

Music isnt what it used to be about ten years ago. Albums used to sell out of stores in a day, now its all about downloading free music off of the internet. More artists are noticing that giving away free music equals getting free fans. Underground artists are more than just underground artists, they might have more loyal fans than the Jay-Z's and Kanye's of our world. Artists like Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Little Dragon, School Boy Q, Mellowhype, Danny Brown, Jhene Aiko, Overdoz and Childish Gambino, just to name a few, give out free music to their fans all of the time. These artists may not always be on the radio every five minutes, but they are more popular on the internet than any where else. And if you know anything about teenagers, you know that they live in front of their computers or iPhones aka the internet.

Indie artists don't need to do much to be cool. All theses young fans look for in an indie/underground artist is coolness, a sense of swag and most importantly good musical talent. The media, on the otherhand, turns artists into something they aren't. Once an artist becomes mainstream, they act out to attract media and public attention. For example, Lady Gaga dresses in outrageous outfits because she fells like she's already made it, so she has to attract attention with everything she does. But an indie group, The Internet, have made a name for themselves, released an album off of their tumblr and twitter accounts, and still have loyal fans, not to mention they wear sweat shirts and jeans everywhere they go.

Soon enough, the music industry is going to be based off of free music downloads. At the rate its going now, I wouldn't be surprised.

New York City Fashion

Urban fashion has completely made a 360. Remember back in 2000-2005, big jeans and jersey's were all boys ever wore? Now young men in the city have transformed themselves into something totally different. Most of the hype behind this new fashion era comes from a group of high school brooklyn boys who took pictures of themselves in their everyday "swag" and posted them onto their tumblr accounts. "Tumblr Famous" is what people called them. Now every month or so,wanna be hipsters gather in places like Union Square or Central Park. They wear their best attempt at a hipster outfit and take pictures to post on tumblr. So many young city teens think being a hipster will make them cool. But it's not that, its your style that makes you cool, and sometimes people get too into it and end up dressing like a fool. Either way, I think this entire new hipser phenomenon going on is interestingly cute.

5. Urban Outfitters and thrift shops

Urban Outfitters may be some what of an expensive store to shop at, but a hipster will die without one. UO has everything, shoes, boots, high wasted shorts and jeans, jewelry, watches, headphones, magazines, and so much more!

A thrift shop is a hipsters second home. Some hipsters are very much into dressing like people from the 90's.

Welcome to my blog!

Hipster and a Rebel is a journey through the new generation of fashion, music and entertainment.

I know everyone has heard of a "hipster". But what is a hipster? Black jeans, ripped jeans, flannels, boots, and chains. A hipster could be anyone who possess' their unique style. Young teens in New York City have given the term "hipster" a new meaning. Fashion and music creates a creativity that's so new and fresh. Not everyone has to become a hipster, but it seems to be the way the cool kids are in this young generation!
